We dream of a doting spouse and get one!
Wish for lovely kids and have one or two,
Want a picket-fenced home and build one.
We earn to decorate a digital ‘smart’ home,
Shower them with lovely gifts, and
Stuff them with drooling fast foods.
Proudly, we then show off for Likes, but
see them drown in the digital aquarium, and
Then the dream turns a nightmare!
We wake up to the horrors of our faults, but
With the lovely kids and spouses stuck in,
The digital nightmare still plays on.
Wish we could play in the picket line, but have
Thrown away our wickets to Windows in vain.
Wish we could steal her heart again, but
Lost her in the sequels of Netflix heists!
We long to play with the kids on a train set, but
have lost their trails in digital Fortnite.
Our Hearts hurry to turn the lights on, but
the brain switches the iPhone to scan our retinas, and
The digital nightmare still plays on!
We yearn to call our friends for help, but
Search them in the archives of WhatsApp!
